Directions from the M20
Either
  • J6 from the M20, A229 towards Maidstone. Following the road through Maidstone town centre and out towards Hastings.
  • Where the road forks bear right; staying on the A229, pass through Loose.
  • At the traffic lights on the crossroads at the top of Linton Hill (Shell service station on the right), continue straight ahead.
  • Continue down Linton Hill, pass through Linton, still on the A229.
  • Shortly after the Style Bridge Pub (on the right), take the right fork off the A229 towards Marden.
  • Battle Lane is the first turning on the left, after about one mile. If you get to the yellow house on a left hand bend, you have gone too far.
  • Summerhill Oast is immediately in front of you as you reach the green.

    Alternative route [avoiding Maidstone Town Centre]
  • Take J8 from M20, A2163 towards Leeds (Kent not Yorkshire).
  • When exiting the motorway you are forced onto the A20.
  • At the first roundabout take the 1st exit, towards Leeds and Ashford.
  • At the second roundabout (just after the hotel), take the 2nd exit (turn right) towards Leeds.
  • Continue on B2163. The B2163 crosses the A274. At the junction with the A274 you will need to turn right and immediately left, continue on the same road B2163. Continue through Boughton Monchelsea to the traffic lights at the crossroads at the top of Linton Hill.
  • Turn left onto the A229.
  • Go down Linton Hill, pass through Linton, still on the A229.

  • Take the A262 towards Goudhurst.
  • At the crossroads, in the centre of Goudhurst, turn left onto the B2079.
  • Continue on the B2079 into Marden.
  • You will pass the turning to the station and the Church (both on your left), then turn left into Maidstone Road.
  • Continue along Maidstone Road, over the railway line, past the cemetery (on the left), take either the first turning on the right, St Ann’s Green Lane, which is about one mile along this road, on a left hand bend, or the second turning on the right, which is Battle Lane.
  • Summerhill Oast is at the junction where the two lanes meet.
